Electronic music project
Stef discovered the piano and classical music at the age of 6. Opting for the saxophone at the age of 12 years old, he rediscovered a whole new world of music once again.
He now has a master’s degree and a prestigious ‘Premier prix avec distinction’ from the conservatory. He’s also completing a bachelor in music education. Having taken pleasure in learning about jazz, percussion instruments, electric bass, the guitar, and even the software needed for sound and composition, Stef accumulated many years of self-taught experience. He passed the audition for the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in 2005 and studied saxophone with Claude Brisson, a student of the renowned Marcel Mule and Daniel Deffayet. He has also had the chance to work with great masters of the saxophone like Arno Bornkamp, Vincent David, Jan Schulte-Bunert, Jean Yves-Fourmeau, Marie-Bernadette Charrier and Peter Weniger. He has also participated in various competitions and has won nearly a dozen awards, including a 2nd place at the well-known Canadian Music Competition.
Aside from his projects of electronic music, chamber music, recording and composition, Stef Jackson is preparing a unique program for the International Saxophone Congress of 2015 in Strasbourg and is working as a teacher and artist for the Fondation Musicart, Collège Sainte-Anne de Lachine, Ensemble Saxologie, SMCQ (société de musique contemporaine du Québec), SCM (société de concert de Montréal), CMC(Canadian music competition) and Trio Rousso.
